Miss Claire Stark
BMedSci Student, MBBS Student
Miss Claire Stark has completed four years of her MBBS at Monash University and has intermitted in 2017 to undertake her Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours).
For her research project, Claire is focussing on the utility of troponin testing in patients after syncope. Syncope as a presenting symptom represents about 1-1.5% of all emergency department attendances however there is no simple test to distinguish between benign and potentially life-threatening causes of syncope. There is currently conflicting opinion on the utility and cost-effectiveness of troponin testing among patients presenting to the ED with syncope. Claire’s thesis will involve a systematic review followed by a retrospective cohort study.
