Background

Longgang District People’s Hospital of Shenzhen was expanded to a 600-bed hospital. The 26th International Universiade Games in 2011 was held in Shenzhen City and the main venue was located near the hospital. The Longgang Municipal Government, Department of Health wanted to establish a trauma centre in order to provide better trauma health services for the residents and for the upcoming Games.

 

Key Objectives & Outcomes

The aims of this project were to assist LDPH medical and nursing staff with skills training in trauma care and management and to support the LDPH medical and nursing staff during the 26th International Universiade Games. Linked to these activities were medical and nursing exchange programs and the delivery of education and research programs at LDPH. The long-term societal aim of this project was to reduce preventable deaths and permanent disability as a result of injuries.
