Trauma Registry Manager, The Alfred

Ms Louise Niggemeyer is a Registered Nurse and the Trauma Registry Manager at The Alfred and National Trauma Research Institute. She has completed a Master of Education, a Certificate of Intensive Care Nursing and is a Member of the Australian College of Nursing. Ms Niggemeyer assists the National Trauma Research Institute in programs related to Trauma Research, Trauma Registry, Systems Development, Clinical Care, Education, Quality and Safety. With over 25 years in experience in trauma care at The Alfred, Ms Niggemeyer has gained extensive experience in senior clinical and non-clinical trauma related roles.

In 2000 Ms Niggemeyer moved to The Alfred Trauma Service and was involved in the design and implementation of both The Alfred Trauma Service and the Victorian State Trauma System. As a national leader in hospital-based trauma registries, Ms Niggemeyer has developed a comprehensive Trauma Registry model for The Alfred that has been modified by many trauma registries throughout Australia.  Ms Niggemeyer is regarded by her peers as one of the leading Trauma Nurses in Australasia and is currently a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Trauma Verification Subcommittee.
